WuObs is an ObGyn clinic located in New Taipei City, Taiwan. Working with Moontools Design, we refreshed their corporate branding and website, along with creating integrated system with their onsite legacy systems.
Most medical clinics in Taiwan have a call number system onsite outside each of the doctors’ doors. When patients register, they are provided a number in the queue and they wait outside the doors until their number is called. During discovery, the client had provided us with the requirement that they wanted the new website to display the live numbers on the doctors’ doors so that the patients do not have to necessarily be onsite to wait for their number to be called in the queue.
To accomplish this, we first had to looked into how their existing queue system worked so that we could achieve the results with minimal effect and overhead on their existing system. Within the clinic, they had a legacy closed system in place where they were generating a XML file on disk from their central private server. Since we had no means to modify this third party software, we build a custom script that reformatted the file into a digestible format for our frontend and uploaded it to AWS whenever it changed.
Now that we have internet access to the three room queue numbers in the clinic, we can display them on the website homepage in realtime, reducing unnecessarily long in person wait queues.
